A P(ea)ce of Heaven

Kashmir: A p(ea)ce of heaven

Kashoo Tawseef
Kashmir-The Mecca of love, art and history. A p(ea)ce of heaven with Snow-capped peaks and wooded slopes. River rushing along its rocky course amid grassy meadows carpeting the wild flowers and wagtails hopping along from stone to stone along the stream's edge paint it as dream land than a valley.
The landscape here is breath taking - with well-defined snow-capped peaks. Rivers with their clear waters meanders through the town. A walk through the dappled orchards revives old spirits. Fairy-tale forests of deodar and pine are worth unleashing.

Referred to as the Switzerland of Asia, Kashmir is an excellent place for a holiday. Leh and Zanskar, its two beautiful regions are also a favourite stop-over for trekkers.
A visit to the market here takes you to myriads of interesting shops selling carpets of different variety and crafts with an appetizing aroma of steaming noodles in the air.

You can also refresh yourself with a dip in the natural springs or maybe create your own movie or sit down to pen a best seller at banks of Jhelum. You can also simply enjoy the peace and tranquility that's always here.

Kashmir Now
"If there must be trouble let it be in my day, that my child may have peace." Thomas Paine
But the p(ea)ce of heaven, has become a tragic problem - a problem so complex that two countries have fought three wars over it in last 50 years. Nothing divides India and Pakistan as Kashmir does, and nobody has suffered more in the process than the people of Kashmir. Common Kashmiri's die a thousand deaths each day and nobody pays regard to their miseries. Kashmiri's have been always deprived of their chance at fate and are deprived of their fundamental rights. Kashmiri's are "sandwiched between security forces and militants." What Kashmir requires today is a leader a leader, who would be committed to bring peace to the grief-stricken valley.

Truth is hard to digest...you can record your indigestion, if any...

Peace doesn't exists in vacuum, there are many factors responsible for peace to exist. In the context of South Asia, the leadership need to understand that its for the greater good of all to solve the disputes and give peace a chance.
