Jammu and Kashmir Election Results
By: Kashoo TawseefOne doesn’t expect much from the recently held elections in Jammu and Kashmir as some say it was a vote for change. How can you bring change when there is no justice? How can you deliver good governance when justice is missing? The foundation of any good governance is justice and when the foundation is absent, one wonders what change one can expect from this system of governance.
Justice to the families who lost their loved ones in 2010 unrest; justice to the families whose family members got killed in fake encounters; justice to the families whose family members are missing from years; justice to the women whose husbands are missing and are living under the title of half widows.
The Twitter profile of ex-head of the state says Ex-CM, which it should have morally showed in 2010 after the bloody summer in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. In an interview with NDTV’s Barkha Dutt, the Ex-CM of the state when asked what next and he states, he wants to see Mom and Dad and give them a BIG hug. WONDERFUL!!! It really must have shaken the conscious souls of the state for a while as what will be the families of 2010 summer unrest feeling watching this interview. When will they hug their loved ones they lost under your guardianship, Mr. Ex-CM?
During the election campaign all political parties were hell bent to expose each other and they left no stone unturned in doing so. Some campaigned to keep BJP away and even called it a foreign entity, some campaigned to keep family rule (family raaj) away and some campaigned to keep puppets of Delhi away. After all those big claims of political parties of emerging as single victorious party and some claims of Mission Kashmir to Mission 44, the results surprised everyone and now they say in politics ‘never say never’. Before election each party was giving false promises of not aligning with any other party accusing with whatever they could and now they are deliberating to join hands.
The results of elections interpret that people have not given a definite mandate to any single party as they feel betrayed every time they voted. The trend that the results of these elections have shown is dangerous as it seems that votes have been divided a regional and communal basis. All three regions voted differently! Now the political parties are looking for options that can be worked out. It looks like that the parties with complete opposite set of ideology are going to join hands with each other.
When political parties’ compromise on the basic principles of their party constitution how can one expects any good deliverance of good governance and justice. Whatever the coalition, maybe nothing will change and it remains to be seen how many more killings, how many more fake encounters, how many more backdoor entries in jobs, how many more backdoor admissions in professional colleges, how many more corruptions cases and list going unending, only time will tell.
Truth is mostly indigestible...but truth cannot be disregarded! You can record your indigestion, if any...

When you are not being treated as human being. how the hell one expect something from those who crush their basic birth rights.
